Ashcombe Volleyball Club Named Volleyball England Club of the Year 2013/2014.

Ashcombe Volleyball Club were named as the Volleyball England Club of the Year 2013/2014 at the Volleyball England Annual Awards Evening at National Volleyball Centre in Kettering on Saturday 26th April.

This is the second time Ashcombe have won the award in the last three years having previously picked up the award in 2012. The award was collected by Ashcombe Volleyball Club Secretary and Founder Freda Bussey MBE.

Ashcombe Volleyball Club Chairperson Carol Fogarty, commenting on the clubs success said, ‘We are all absolutely delighted and honoured to have been awarded Volleyball England Club of the Year 2014. It is indeed thanks to great performances by members of the club both on and off the court. Our junior squads continue to reach the latter stages of national competition and several players have attained recognition with the England Cadet squads. Volunteers are at the heart of Ashcombe Volleyball Club and we endeavour to make volunteering an integral part of the club; such as, subsidising several members of the club on courses which has in turn enabled us to establish connections within many Dorking schools and the wider community.

Thanks must also go to the Ashcombe school PE department and the school leadership who have helped to foster an excellent working relationship and supported many of our initiatives. As we head into next season, the club will continue to focus on driving forward the standard of volleyball and increasing public awareness and accessibility for all.’
