Ashcombe Under 16’s move into Final 8’s

Victory over Boswells VC 2-1 was a great start for the Ashcombe Under 16 squad. Every match in the competition, held at Marymount School, Kingston, was close and in their next match Ashcombe faced a very strong and well organised Richmond side. In the first set Richmond dominated both in serve and net attacks but Ashcombe closed the gap in the second set losing 25-22 and regaining their confidence. In their third match Ashcombe started well winning the first set 25-19. Coach Freda Bussey felt confident and bought in new players but Malory gained in confidence an took the set 25-22. Malory went onto win the deciding set 16-14 meaning the second place was decided on points difference. Ashcombe’s points difference was far superior to the opposition so the team go through to the last 8 competition. This is due to be held at The National Volleyball Centre, Kettering on Sunday 11th March 2018.
