Worthing Devils win Inter Regional Trophy - 26th April 2009

Worthing Devils beat all comers to take the womens Inter Regional trophy at the South East Volleyball Championships held at The Ashcombe Volleyball Centre over the weekend of 25th/26th April 2009. The mens winners were Sussex University who went on to win the Regional Cahmpionships on Sunday 17th May, beating London in the final.

Worthing Devils 3 Worthing Demons 0 - Sunday 15th February

A double home fixture for the Worthing teams ended in a comfortable victory for Devils. Theresa farley, Hannah Carey and Emma Churcher were still in fine form after thier victory the previous day over London Malory and the team was far too strong for the Demons side. Every point was a victory for the Demons side with the sisterly rivalry between Sabrina and Theresa Farley featuring throughout the game and giving both the supporters and players a reason to smile.

Worthing Angels beat Eastbourne to move up the Sussex League tables - Sunday 25th January 2009

The junior side, Worthing Angels, from Ashcombe Durrington, beat Eastbourne for the first time in the Sussex Womens League. Abbey Peters played in her first full game in the league and showed great promise with her steady play. Izzy Fumagalli and Beth Taylor kept the team attacking with their accurate setting. Sabrina Farley, Georgia Bird and Hannah Carey were all powerful at the net, blocking and spiking through all zones.

Worthing Devils 3 Dolphins [2] 1 - mOnday 9th February 2009

Worthing Devils travelled with a depleted team but still managed a league victory over Dolphins 2 on Monday 9th February.

Worthing Angels 0 Worthing Devils 3 -20th October 2008

Worthing Angels were no competition for Worthing Devils on Monday 20th October. The Angels fielded 2 Under 14 novice players, Abbey Peters and Robyn Wisdom, 3 Under 15 players and was captained by U 17 player Lucy Pierce. Robyn Wisdom was named man of the match afetr a brave display of defending against the might of Worthing Devils. Ex Durrington High School abd Ashcombe players Alice Alden and Bathobile Makama have both returned from university and had their first games for the Worthing Devils side.

Worthing Angels 3 Dolphins 2 0 - 6th October 2008

Worthing Angels comprising of the Ashcombe Under 17 team based in Worthing, beat Dolphins 2 3-0 at the Dolphin Olympus Leisure Centre, Haywards Heath. Izzy Fumagalli captained the team: Hannah Carey, Megan Warren, Georgia Bird, Sian Warren , Lucy Pierce, Sabrina Farley. Georgia Bird [pictured] was named as Player of the Match.

Worthing Devils win Sussex League - 20th April 2008

Worthing Devils team have taken the Sussex league title for the first time. Worthing Volleyball Club combines with Ashcombe Volleyball Club junior section working out of Durrington High School to enter 3 teams in the Sussex womens league. The Worthing Demons team has had a succesfull season as well and the new Worthing Junior team have ended up mid table giving regular matches to new Under 14 and Under 16 players.

Worthing Vipers win the Sussex league for another season - 20th April 2008

Worthing Vipers have taken the Sussex title for another season and remain unbeaten throughout the year. Young Ashcombe and Durrington player "Nipper" Rob Pennifold has succesfully integrated into the Worthing 1st team and Ashcombe and Durrington Under 16 players Jimmy Carey and Kieron Gillard are playing regular Sussex League games with Worthing Jets. Kieron Gillard has been awaderd Sussex League Division 2 Player of the Year.

Sussex league latest news - 2nd April 2008

Worthing Devils look set to take Womens Sussex league Division 1 with only a few matches to go they remain unbeaten. Worthing Demons and Worthing Juniors should both finish the season mid table with both teams gaining notable victories over local opposition. Worthing Juniors took a set off Dolphins 1 in at their last meeting on 2nd April. Next game Worthing Devils v Worthing Juniors Monday 21st April 6.00.p.m. at Durrington High School.
