

Welcome to Ashcombe Volleyball Club
Ashcombe Volleyball Club offers volleyball for women and girl players of all ages and abilities and also has competitive teams for junior boys.
Ashcombe Volleyball Club was founded in 1976 and is based at The Ashcombe School, Dorking, Surrey. Training and games take place in the purpose built Sports Hall at Ashcombe Volleyball Centre built with a Lottery Grant in 2002 and at Durrington High School, Worthing.
Ashcombe Dorking 1 play in National League Division 2 and in 2000 won the English National Cup and League double.
Ashcombe Dorking 2 play in National League Division 3 East and offer good quality volleyball to experienced and youth players.
Ashcombe have representative teams in both the Surrey and Sussex women's leagues. In the Sussex League Ashcombe integrate with Worthing Volleyball Club to support club members to play in men and women's leagues.
The Ashcombe Tournament held on grass courts at Dorking R.F.C. in Brockham is one of the biggest summer volleyball tournaments in the South of England attracting over 100 teams each day to play in 2 days of junior and adult volleyball for all levels of play.
Junior players at Ashcombe play in all National and Local competitions and in 2008 the Under 16 girls team won the National Finals. The Under 18 Girls reached the National finals and the Under 18 Boys and Under 15 girls both reached the semi finals.
Beach volleyball is becoming more popular with the Ashcombe players and the teams training regularly on Monday evenings at Yellowave, Brighton throughout the summer months.

Ashcombe's Jess Grimson and Susan Hoare selected for World Under 21 Beach Championships - 1st August 2008 After winning the Sandbanks Under 18 National Championships and coming 2nd in the Margate Under 21 National Championships Jess and Susan have been training with the GB squad at the University of Bath and have now been selected to represent Great Britain in the Under 21 World Championships to be held on the sand courts at Yellowave, Brighton on 3rd - 7th September 2008. |

Whitfield Tournament, Bath 19th/20th July 2008 3 Ashcombe teams entered at Whitfield Bath with the Panbusters theme of Golf through the Ages. Wearing traditional boiler suits to play in the Ashcombe Panbusters came 3rd in the plate and at one time looked in danger of winning. Ashcombe 1 won the plate final after beating Swiss Cottage. The Ashcombe junior womens side in Division 2 won a few sets and new players Abbey Peters and Emily Begley [both aged 13] made their Whitfield debuts. More photos in Ashcombe on Tour. Jess Grimson, Hannah Carey and Susan Hoare selected for England and GB training - 12th July 2008 Jess, Hannah and Susan have all been training with the Junior England squad and Jess and Hannah with the GB squads during June and July. The talented Durrington High School, Chichester College and Ashcombe players show great promise and together with other Under 17 players Nara Hassanova, Maria Frost, Georgia Bird and Izzy Fumagalli are the future of Ashcombe VC.

Ashcombe 4- aside Tournament 2008 Saturday - 21st June 2008 On Saturday 21st June Ashcombe Volleyball Club held a very successful 4 aside tournament. The weather threatened but held off untill the presentations. 35 teams contested the various competitions with Lynx men and Llamedos Saints winning the Mens Divisions, Ashcombe Part Timers and Ashcombe Diggers winning the Womens Divisions and Dolphins, Wiltshire Mixers and Forza Italia winning the Mixed. Ashcombe Junior Tournament 2008 Saturday - 21st June 2008 The Under 11 to Under 18 Age group Tournament was also held on the grass courts at Dorking Rugby Club alongside the 4 aside adult tournament. Under 12 Division winners were the young Sheaf brothers, following in their elder brothers footsteps? Ashcombe men in the Mist and Ashcombe Motley Crew won the Under 18 Boys and Girls Divisions. Newbury, Thomas More and Devizes also featured in the junior competitions. Volleyball England were in attandance and supported the evnts bringing specialist junior net and court systems and helped support the tournament and funded the medals that every junior player received. Ashcombe 6-aside Tournament 2008 Sunday - 22nd June 2008 Sunday 22nd June adult 6-aside Men, Women, and Mixed competitions in 12 Divisions for all abilities. A deceptively hot sunny day meant that the 70 teams enjoyed the days competition in excellent conditions. Ashcombe VC - Jersey Champions 2008 - 4th May 2008 Ashcombe players were joined by players from Epsom Eagles and Warwick to form a team to win the Jersey Tournament, beating Reading Aces in the semi finals and Jersey in the finals. Michelle Nudds was awarded player of the tournament and Freda Bussey, Debbie Frost, Ann Jarvis and Helen Bullen all played their best volleyball of this long season to take the title. Thanks to Liz, Penny, Zoe, Kathryn, Ailsa for their wonderful support over the weekend.

Under 16 's win National Final - 27th April 2008 A fabulous 3-0 victory over Newcastle Staffs by Ashcombe Under 16 team led by Izzy Fumagalli was the highlight of the Sunday games at the national Finals held at Bath Uneversity for Ashcombe VC. All the players except for Luana Mesquiati are pupils at Durrington High School and are a mixture of year 9,10, and 11 students so many players will be eligible to fight for the title again next year. Shield Victory for Ashcombe Dorking 1 - 26th April 2008 The score was 3-1 for Ashcombe Dorking 1 when they met Tamside at Bath University on Saturday 26th April. A sprained ankle at training on the Thursday prior to the match kept Lora Ioannou of the court but not off the bench supporting the side. Captained by Diana Hassanova the side looked dominant throughout with Theresa Farley having the best hitting stats and Diana Hassanova taking the award for Most Valuable Player. Under 18's lose 3-2 to Tameside in National Final - 27th April 2008 After being 2 sets up it looked in the bag for the Ashcombe 18 side but a determined Tameside clawed their way back into the game and finished victors. Jess Grimson was awarded Most Valuable Player for her fabulous extreme recoveries and attacking play but it was not enough for the team to take the title. Captained by Beth Lowney the young side who are all Under 17 will all be able to contest the same competition next season.
